sourceI like to think of the skirt component as the one in which some of the most critical movement takes place. The skirt goes into motion when you put one foot in front of the other and make your way down the aisle or dance with your groom. And because the skirt is an action piece, it has a certain ‘living quality’ once you start moving around in it. Added embellishments like beads and crystals reflect light a different way every step you take; back slits reveal sexy legs and bustling can transform a gown one moment from elegance, the next to poetry and romanticism. Consider...

On the bridesmaid dress re-wearability scale, skirts are right up there with a dress the individual bridesmaid picks out herself. It’s not difficult to see why – with two pieces, a top and a bottom, there’s a much better chance that the bridesmaids will either like one or the other and also have an opportunity to wear the half they like. And putting aside all those poly satin strapless tops with matching long skirts, outfitting your ‘maids in skirts can be a lot of fun! How about fitted tux shirts and pencil skirts? Or poodle skirts! A sash can stand in for a belt or just choose a skir...

  • We love to see twists on wedding traditions, and we're jumping on board for this trend: bridesmaid skirts! Traditionally, bridesmaids are given a specific dress to wear selected by the bride. We say, let's change things up a bit and throw a fun, colorful skirt into the mix! When paired appropriately (and, in favorable weather conditions obviously - we don't want any poor bridesmaids freezing their you-know-whats off in the dead of winter) bridesmaid skirts can be a fun style option for your girls, and they'll love the super wear-ability factor after the wedding day. Perfection! I love ev...

I realize that the skirted table is not a new concept. But these hot, modern specimens full of straight lines, perfect pleats and lovely tailoring are right up my alley. And music to a small space's ears since you can hide all sorts of unsightly bits underneath. I'm thinking this would be the perfect bar solution for our little apartment and since I am not a sewer what so ever, Wisteria's skirted table might be my best bet. I also found a few no-sew tutorials at Little Green Notebook and Johns Journal if you feel so inclined. Images: Domino Book of Decorating, Lonny, Apartment ...

  • When I was searching for photos for the Plaid Trilogy posts this week, I found this really cool bridal look: Photo Credit: Ciara Richardson I cannot stop drooling over this idea of wearing a more common shirt with a fabulous full skirt on the bottom. For the bride that doesn’t want to be too stuffy or traditional on her wedding day, this is a great idea. It doesn’t necessarily need to be plaid, but could be denim, a blouse, a sweater, a vest, or even a t-shirt. It’s the perfect way for the non-traditional bride to show who she is and be comfortable and still classy on her we...
