Sometimes a bride may have a difficult time picking a particular color scheme because she likes lots of different colors and combinations of colors. Here are some pictures from a wedding we did this summer that featured fuchsia, orange, and yellow flowers accents of lavender and grey-blue. The bridesmaids wore black dresses and bouquets with long flowing ribbons of sage green, fuchsia, and pewter. In the bouquets, we used fuchsia ‘luxor’ roses, yellow tulips, grey-blue thistle, orangeprotea, and “voodoo” orange roses. We used glassy white ceramic containers for the centerpieces whi... |

Photo: Recherche Photography Cake: Tee & Cakes Looking for a sophisticated way to glam up your cake? Instead of going over-the-top with design, keep it simple and chic with a simple cake base and bright couture sugar-made flowers. My friend Christine just got engaged and is in the early stages of planning her wedding. She’s still nailing down a venue, date, etc but as she’s a designer by trade, her mind is already squarely on the fun, pretty stuff!! And that is fine by me because I love all that stuff and am always ready with an opinion and 900 inspiring images (only a slight exaggeration when I open my iPhoto!) So here’s what we know so far: The season – next fall The likely venue – an art museum The overall aesthetic – modern with pops of color and a nod to the seasonality (note I said “nod”…pump... |
In the case of weddings in which predominant are the strong and bright colors you have to emphasize all the accent on pale tones for the flowers that are going to be present on the guests’ tables or in your outfit and that of the bridesmaids. For the year 2011 we recommend tones of white, pink, cream and freesia. If you apply for a nude flower palette the main colors are going to be emphasized in this way…. If we’re speaking about the bouquets for the bridesmaids then we’re definitely referring to some spherical bouquets made of roses and these have cream tones of course. These bouqu... |
I still need to post about my experience with the florist, but for now I'll leave you with this picture! For the centerpieces we've tentatively decided on three tall cylinder vases in varying heights, filled with bright green hydrangeas and black river rocks on the bottom. So it won't look quite like the picture above, but you can get the idea of the green and black contrast! I am off to NYC for a meeting...hope everyone has a great weekend!... |
The second in our 5 F's series - the beautiful flowers and decor, I usually clump these into the same category. The decor can really set the mood for the whole event, you can have a soft and romantic ceremony with all white on white colors, and a fun and bright ceremony. Or just stay with the same idea throughout. Either way, flowers and decor can really make it moody.Flowers and Decor are typically 10% of the budget, can can go up-up-up if you are looking for something very specific or it can go down if you are looking for a simple minimalistic look. Most people have a vision of the type of lo... |
