Filed under: Alternative WeddingsAs I've mentioned before, my husband is a wedding officiant. He's done hundreds over the years, but he took a break for a few years, and only took it up again a couple of months ago. So far, though it's legal here, he has yet to perform a gay wedding. He's looking forward to it. His rationale is that, having been on the outside looking in for so long, that gay couples who decide to marry will have a sense of achievement that straight couples don't. Straight people can, after all, take their right to marry for granted. He anticipates a gay wedding might have laye... |

A healthy bride is an organized bride. As the months turn into weeks and the weeks turn into days, the time remaining before a bride gets married shrinks at an exponential rate as the big day arrives. There is always something on the “To Do” list that has to take priority. Usually as things get pushed down the list, exercise gets pushed down the furthest at times. Which in a way can makes things worse. The Abbey Blog has been focusing for weeks now on things a bride to be can do to keep up a healthy fitness program on the road to her nuptials. No matter how it is applied, in what area is it applied, no matter if you’re using it for the wedding dress or as a hair accessory it’s very appropriate to a bride. And going back to the bow attached on the waistline and that has closure with a ribbon, which particular ribbon doesn’t necessarily have to be white. It definit... |
I’m all for brides doing a bit of extra exercise before the wedding. A good workout makes you feel good, gives your skin a rosy glow, and helps you walk down the aisle with a spring in your step. There are some fabulous wedding exercise plans, such as The Complete Bride’s Workout Guide and Wedding Workout, that are healthful and realistic and strive to make brides of all sizes feel good about themselves. What I can’t get behind are ads like the one above (and the two others featured on the lovely blog Wedding Thoughts) created by Grey World for Slim Fast. They imply that there is som... |
We were delighted to learn that The Bride’s Book, an award-winning wedding magazine based in the Carolinas and serving the southwestern United States, had chosen to feature us in their new Spring 2010 issue. Here’s what they wrote: Consider a Honeymoon Registry For the many couples who have already established a home together, a honeymoon registry is a fantastic way for guests to give you a meaningful wedding gift without doubling up on all the traditional housewares you already have. You can break down your honeymoon into parts for your guests to reserve as gifts – activities and excur... |
