Having a blue wedding is sometimes tricky to coordinate because very few flowers come in a shade of blue. When all the blue elements of a wedding come together, however, the effects can be absolutely beautiful. The bride, Vera, was kind enough to share her story… After eight years of courtship, the proposal happened during a Tahoe trip while we stopped at the Danner Summit for a short hike. No flower, no down on one keen and we even got lost finding our way back to the car ( oops! ) but it was the most perfect proposal.  (And the most perfect engagement ring!) BLUE WEDDING all the way! I think I've mentioned it before, but I was this close to having a nautical wedding. My love for green won out, but if I were allowed to plan two weddings the second one would be blue and white. (Fiancé faints as he reads this...I said IF!)There is no way to say this that doesn't make me sound like a weirdo, so I'll just come out with it. This inspiration board was unsolicited. A friend of mine mentioned that one of her friends is planning a wedding on the East Coast and I immediately started rambling about lobsters and sending her links to this wedding. Turns out she wants a blue weddin... |
This is the cake for the bride who just can’t figure out where to add her something blue. This stunning cake is finished in fondant, with different treatment for each of its three layers: the bottom layer features a quilted pattern; the middle layer has buttercream piped in an intricate-yet-uniform swirl, with an accent of random, baby blue dots; and the top layer is peppered with dots in a triplicate pattern. And, in a move that we haven’t seen before, the baker uses a satin and sheer ribbon to trim each layer of moist yellow cake. Silk ivy (a good move, since the real thing is pois... |

You might remember a post I put together just a few short months ago, filled with some of my favorite green wedding ideas and inspirations. Due to its wildly popular response, I’ve decided to start a series around color and various wedding ideas and inspirations. And because I’m off to one of my very favorite places in the world – a resort famous for its fifty shades of blue – I was inspired to continue on with the color blue. Get ready for as many shades of blue as I could pack into a post, fashion, florals, favors, and more, galore! Pretty blue bridal fashion: ... |
Hey there friends! I hope you all are enjoying your week! I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already… this month has GOT to slow down! Anyways… this wedding that I have for you all this lovely Wednesday is from not one but two of my wonderful ELV pros… Avant Images and Myrtie Blue! It has a fabulous color palette of yellow and blue and some absolutely gorgeous details! You will LOVE it! Today’s color palette is a bit on the softer side, showing off the romance of springtime.  Pale pink and blue is the perfect combination for a sweet bridal shower of even a destination wedding in France.  The variations really are endless and of course, the flower options are too.  Consider this pretty combination in a vintage chic style with floral china and peonies or make it a bit more modern with a chevron pattern and cherry blossom branches.  Everything is prettier in pink! {Photos: Top Left Paper Goods & Tea Table: Fairy Nuff Flowers via The Pretty Blog, White Table: Dream... |

Sometimes all you need is a simple and classic wedding cake. There is something about light blue and white that brings me inner peace. That might be why every room in my house has a blue color scheme. This cake makes me happy. It’s a square cake with three tiers. It’s covered in white fondant and adorned with a light blue ribbon around the middle. The bottom and top tiers have beautiful white scroll work and the topper is a neat cluster of blue hydrangeas. It’s simple, classy, and I bet it was delicious. This gorgeous cake was the vision of Entirely Elegant Cake C... |
Joy Thigpen recently put together a reception table for a bride in Sweden and I loved the way it turned out. Below is a little information behind the table and some pretty pictures from Jen Curtis… Alexandra asked us to help her come up with an interpretation of her country’s colors: yellow and blue, for her Swedish wedding. We paired vintage white linens with yellow garden roses, blue silk ribbon, and a little black accent to incorporate the more modern black chairs supplied by her venue. As she and charlie were having a destination wedding, Alexandra made her guest these little lugg... |
