I'm kind of ashamed to say that I'm looking forward to this show. Really, I would have expected more "aloofness" from me. Lately, I've been addicted to TV shows on DVD. Every week the Netflix fairy brings me new episodes, sans commercials, of Six Feet Under, which I am totally addicted to. I watched the first episode of season 3 last night, and all I have to say is "wha?". That was a little strange.BUT... that's not why you came. I just wanted to give everyone the heads up, Big Day, a comedy about one couple's wedding day starts Tuesday, November 28th at 9:00 on ABC. The entire season takes pl... |
Today is my friend (and former partner in crime) Heidi’s big day – as you read this probably she’ll be walking down the aisle to start a new life with her English boy, Oli. And I’ll be standing right beside her (holding the bouquet and carrying the famous bridesmaid emergency kit!), and wishing both of them all the happiness in the world. Congratulations my friend – nobody deserves a happy ending as much as you do! I’m so honoured to be there with you today. I thought it was only appropriate that for today’s post I shared one of the readings Heids and Oli will be having at the... |
Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending a bridal shower and bachelorette party for a dear friend of mine. I’m lucky to be part of her bridal party and am very much looking forward to her wedding in November (and yes, it helps that my dress is pretty and I get to wear my favorite Manolos with it). We had a great day – the shower began with a cooking demonstration followed by a yummy lunch and our evening involved a casual but fun dinner and many cocktails at a couple of our favorite upscale lounges. All the pre-wedding excitement and sharing of wedding stories got me thinking about wa... |
One day in 1981, I was just a wee girl living in a little house in Johannesburg, and just about the most exciting thing happened. Princess Di and Prince Charles’ wedding was broadcast to the absolute awe of the neighbourhood kids. I was absolutely entranced throughout, and immediately afterwards, my best friend Saffron and I re-enacted the whole thing. UNlucky for me, I got to be Charles because I had short hair, and she was two years older than I was, and that was that. For some reason, I decided to wear a funny little embroidered hat, and she wore one of our mum’s scarves on her head fo... |
It’s been two weeks since we launched the MODwedding beta site, and so far, things are going great – for the site and for Alex and me. In addition to working around the clock to improve the performance of our site (it's SO much faster now), I’ve also officially become a bride-to-be. Alex proposed outside of our townhouse and I was more than happy to accept. So here’s our real test as a couple and as business owners…. How well can we manage the planning process without turning into bridezilla and groomzilla (I think we’ll be fine – we’re both pretty relaxed and agre... |
Christian Louboutain one of the most famous designers would say that he would feel really sad if he heard someone telling that his shoes are looking really comfortable – from this statement one can say that the more extravagant the shoes look, the more uncomfortable they are and that’s the pure truth. For the wedding day we should try and find a compromise in what concerns looking impeccable, but in the same time you have to have the aptitude of dancing and walking for kilometers from all your guests. This is why you should follow some steps when it comes to choosing the wedding shoes if... |
We are updating our Bonny Bridal Wedding Calendar over on our Facebook Fan page - and while we are at it we are doing a little giveaway! It all started today, when one of our Bonny Brides mentioned something about her wedding day (which was July 16, 2011). We didn't have it on our calendar so, we decided a fun way to update our calendar would be for her to pick two random wedding dates - one in 2011 and one in 2012 and we would ask our brides to share their wedding day with us. The first brides to post their big day, that matched the random dates she picked, would win a little something-s... |
The first thing most newly engaged women think about (after the romance of the proposal has had time to sink in, of course) is the dress. If you are anything like me, you’ll have been imagining wearing a wedding dress … Continue reading → ... |
Bride Blogger Catherine tackles the question on so many bride’s minds – how to get in shape for the big day?! *** When you read wedding magazines, books, and blogs, you get the impression that everything revolves around the bride. Being the center of attention is not easy for every bride, especially this one. My wedding nerves kicked in when I read that I will be photographed more on my wedding day than any other moment in my life. Photography Credits: Thrive Pilates; Monique Lhuillier I bought a gorgeous dress, but that alone was not going to give me the confidence to stand in front... |
Just a few short days ago I became completely enchanted with wedding gowns again. Not that I ever fell out of love or enchantment but here, is just another reason. Having made the acquaintance (and soon after friendship) of the lovely Kate Roberts with J. Scheer & Co. (west coast). I realized that there truly was so much to learn about preservation of memories. Not only photographic memories (which is the #1 request for most bridal budgets) but preserving your wedding day ICON, the gown. Now we certainly understand that a lady has to be reasonable when spending precious bridal budget dolla... |
