• Anne-Marie & John The engagement shoot of Anne-Marie & John is a truly special one and I knew it would be when the words of inspiration rolled onto my screen. Anne-Marie and John are marrying next month at the QVB Tea Rooms in Sydney. For their engagement shoot, they did something a little different and worked with their photographer for an “Arabian Nights” style shoot. Full of amazing food, flowers, lanterns and lights, it was full of beautiful touches. Their photography Cathy Crawley of Beautiful Moments Photography “The inspiration for the shoot came about because I used to w...

Events and Ryam of The Inspired Mama did such a great job playing creative “genies” and bringing this festive Aladdin-inspired theme to life for Ryam’s daughter. • This weekend we created a 40th birthday Arabian Nights themed cake. The middle tier includes a skyline with matching Moroccan style arched windows. We finished off the background of the cake with a sand color fondant and gold detailed tassels. The flavors included vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream and our signature pink velvet cake with vanilla buttercream. Here’s a video I shot with some commentary. Enjoy! • Arabian Nights Sweet 16 Cupcake Tower Nia, a long time customer of ours, asked us to create this genie lamp cupcake stand for a sweet 16 party. She sent us an image of the gold genie lamp to replicate for the topper cake. The genie lamp flavor and filling was red velvet with vanilla buttercream. Along with the cupcake topper cake we included 100 cupcakes in matching metallic gold liners. Flavors and fillings included vanilla and chocolate with vanilla buttercream in a mix of Arabian night color tones including cinnamon red, burnt orange and purple. I shot a video at the bakery as well: www.y...

  • When Gina at A Greater Plan Weddings & Events contacted me about creating the floral centerpieces for an Arabian Nights themed 50th birthday party I immediately loved her vision for the event.  She sent over sketches of the tent and floral ideas with a description that read “like magic from a genie bottle”. I kept the bulk of the flowers clustered at the top of the turquoise glass vases but added whimsical curls of purple wire to create a bit of height.  A close up of the centerpiece (above).  Turquoise vase with purple agapanthus, purple sweet peas, lily grass and purple cur...

After months of anticipation, changing out of your once in a life time wedding gown may seem out of the question. Understandable! However, there is definitely a fun trend among brides to switch to a flirty frock to cap off the night. Check out a few of our brides who chose to go from night to late night. sourceThe theme was Belle Epoque at the San Francisco Ballet opening Wednesday night.  Rolling out the red carpet for the cavalcade of couture, the most celebrated designer it seemed was Alexander McQueen living on through his art as social sceners paid him the ultimate tribute by wearing his most dramatic pieces.  Above: Always nailing a grand entrance, Deepa  Pakianathan does it again wearing a cocktail length dress and booties by the late McQueen.  The skirt is extraordinary with gold painted feathers draped with silk screened fabric.  Says ...
