Every time I see photos from an Indian wedding, I can’t help but ooh and aah over the beautiful combination of bright colors and intricate patterns, all of which come together to create a sense of joy and celebration.  Ellie from Hello Tenfold (and Mint!) was lucky enough to recently design some day-of stationery for a Hindu wedding and reception – including table numbers, ceremony programs, menus, and place cards: See?  Vibrant colors, beautiful henna-inspired illustrations and patterns, and totally gorgeous.  Love it!  Thanks Ellie! {image credits: Ellie Snow} *Hello Tenfold...

Priya recently designed these amazing wedding invitations for friends having a traditional Hindu ceremony – and I’m LOVING the gorgeous colors and floral patterns! I love how the invitations are both modern and traditional at the same time – using the bright pops of pink and orange with formal invitation wording.  So pretty – read more about the invitations right here! {image credits: love made visible} © 2008 — 2010, Oh So Beautiful Paper...

  • This blog is brought to you by our amazing intern Jackie! This gorgeous Hindu Wedding Ceremony was captured by Jennifer Kathryn of Jennifer Kathryn Photography in Chicago. I love the intricate details on the bride’s Saree and the groom’s Sherwani. The ceremony sparkled with bright shades of reds and greens, complimented by jewels and gold accents. A few words from Jennifer about the couple: I don’t know if it was Megha’s beauty and her sparkling laughter that first caught Cameron’s eye, or if it was her incredible balance between a fierce determination and extraordinary kindness. This weekend I had the honor of attending the Hindu wedding of my dear friends Hashi and JaJa. I swore the King and Queen of the world were being introduced when the ceremony began. The two certainly played the part. Hashi was breathtakingly gorgeous and all jeweled up in deep reds and gold, and JaJa who is over 7 feet tall, easily gave Prince Akeem Joffer from Coming to America a run for his money. But in all seriousness, there is something to be said about traditions, especially one that is more than four thousand years old. Their Sanskrit Vedic ceremony was filled with with meaningful ritua...

This adorable bride and groom got to get their vows on not once, but twice in one day. First with a beautiful and colorful traditional Hindu ceremony that included a white horse that carried the groom to the ceremony site and some of the cutest little flower girls, and then ending with an American ceremony in the evening. This film, by Elite Video Productions, is so much fun to watch and there’s even a Bollywood dance at the end. Enjoy! From the bride…For the Hindu Ceremony and Lunch, we wanted to create a unique, cultured experience for our guests, both Indian and non-Indian. We aspi...

Filed under: Alternative WeddingsThe bride was resplendent in a sari and flowers. The groom was taken to the temple by procession, accompanied by fireworks, loud music, and dancing. The crowd was there for the wedding. The couple was just there for the bananas. Two monkeys, Manu (the groom) and Jhumuri (the bride) were married last week in Eastern India amid hundreds of onlookers and well wishers. In Hindu mythology, monkeys are idols, but the couples who married off the monkeys in question said they loved them as pets. In fact, the woman who had taken care of Jhumuri, said, "I feel as if my ow...

  • About two weeks ago, I flew to California to photograph Priti and Tahir's wedding. Priti is Hindu and Tahir is Muslim. That their respective traditions and faiths are important to them and each other was abundantly clear. I was truly honored to photograph both the Nikah, translated loosely from Arabic to mean "the embracing of one another" and the Vivaha (or Vivaham, if you are from South India), the Sanskrit word for "wedding." Inter-faith weddings can be challenging to the couple, but Priti and Tahir handled every single detail with great finesse. From the photographer's perspective, I love ...
